About Sakina & Co.

Formerly known as Hijama by Hannan, Sakina & Co. is a faith-centered women’s wellness practice serving Muslim women through holistic, culturally sensitive care.

What began as a cupping therapy service has grown into a sanctuary for women seeking thoughtful support throughout the many stages of life. Today, Sakina & Co. offers services including doula care, traditional womb therapies, and collaborations with trusted practitioners — all designed to support women through pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and overall well-being.

At the heart of our work is the belief that all healing ultimately comes from Allah. He has provided many means through which we seek His help, both spiritual and practical. Our role is to offer compassionate, personalized support while honoring Islamic values and respecting the role of modern healthcare.

Our services are not a replacement for medical care, but a complementary layer of support — helping women feel nurtured, informed, and spiritually grounded throughout their wellness journey.

Everything we do is guided by one intention:
to cultivate an atmosphere of comfort, dignity, and tranquility — your sakina.

Our Philosophy of Care

At Sakina & Co., care is never rushed, mechanical, or impersonal. We believe women deserve time, dignity, and thoughtful attention — especially during the most transformative seasons of life.

Our approach blends traditional wellness practices, faith-centered values, and modern awareness of safety and professional boundaries. Each service is designed to support the body while also honoring the emotional and spiritual experiences that accompany womanhood.

We recognize that every woman’s journey is unique. For this reason, our care is always personalized — listening first, supporting gently, and adapting to each client’s individual needs and comfort.

We also believe wellness should never exist in isolation. True care happens through collaboration. Whenever appropriate, we encourage partnership with healthcare providers and other trusted practitioners to ensure clients receive well-rounded support.

Above all, our intention is simple: to create a space where women feel seen, supported, and at ease — a place where healing is approached with humility, compassion, and trust in Allah.

Mission

Meet the Founder

Hannan
Founder & Lead Practitioner
Certified Hijama Therapist | Full-Spectrum Doula

Assalamu Alaikum, I’m Hannan.

I’m the founder of Sakina & Co., a faith-centered women’s wellness practice created to serve Muslim women with compassion, dignity, and thoughtful care.

My journey into this work began through my own search for healing. In 2017, during a period of personal health challenges, a close friend introduced me to Hijama after returning from Madinah. The experience had a profound impact on me and sparked a deep desire to learn more about holistic approaches to wellness within our tradition.

I later trained in Hijama and began serving women in my community, eventually establishing what was then known as Hijama by Hannan. Through that work, I witnessed the many ways women seek support — not only for physical healing, but also during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery. This naturally led me to pursue training as a full-spectrum doula and expand my work to support women through these transformative seasons of life.

Today, Sakina & Co. reflects that evolving vision — a space where women can access thoughtful, culturally aligned care that respects both faith and modern healthcare.

My approach to care is grounded in three guiding principles: compassion, responsibility, and trust in Allah. While I value scientific knowledge and evidence-based practice, I also recognize that all healing ultimately comes from Him. My role is simply to serve as a means — offering skill, presence, and sincere care to the women who place their trust in this work.

I am deeply grateful to do this work while raising my five children with the support of my husband, whose encouragement has helped make this journey possible.

It would be an honor to support you during your own journey.

The ancient practice of cupping for health is beautifully administered by sister Hannan. I started my sessions with great confidence because our first meeting was online with a medical doctor for an evaluation of my individual needs. Being treated by sister Hannan includes her having the support and guidance of a wise and experienced physician. After each session I feel a remarkable overall calm, and an increased physical ease that is cumulative with each following session. I wish for everyone I care about, and those I don't even know, to have the opportunity to benefit from sister Hannan's gentle and spiritual hijama.
